Your hair looks amazing, and you feel like you could conquer the world! (Or Northampton at least.) bad hair days

It’s no wonder, then, half of us think our inner strength and self-confidence lies, not at the bottom of a make up bag, but in our hair. So when it just won’t behave, those dreaded bad hair days leave most of us feeling as knotty as our locks.

In fact, a survey of 2,000 people has found that we have on average 7,300 bad hair days in a lifetime. That’s around three a week. Shocking isn’t it? Troubled tresses have been known to knock confidence in the office, and a third of those surveyed admitted they’d miss a day of work if their hair was giving them grief. Not only that, but a dodgy ‘do leaves most feeling moody for around four hours per day. Sound familiar?

Here at Barbarella, we transform bad hair days into stunning styles every day. And the uplifting effect it has on our clients really is wonderful to see. So here are our five tops tips for banishing bad hair days and a few quick fixes for when one strikes!

Prevention is better than cure.

It’s a lot easier to manage and style healthy hear. But endless straightening, curling and spraying can leave it dry and damaged. Deep condition your hair once a week, and if those annoying fly-aways won’t go away it’s worth considering a professional intensive conditioning treatment.

Get the snip.

There’s a reason us hairdressers are always banging on about trimming! Not only does it maintain your style, it chops off any split ends and helps keep frizz at bay. Even if you’re growing your hair to rival Kate Middleton’s waves, you still need regular trims. No excuses!

Be gentle, not kinky.

After washing, your hair is very fragile and prone to breakage. Try to avoid this extra stress by patting dry and using a decent brush to work out any knots. And remember, if you go to bed with wet hair, you’ll probably wake up with kinks and tangles, so dry it before heading off to sleep.

That blows.

A bad hair day before an important event like a first date, job interview or meeting someone special is never great. So see your stylist for a super-quick blow-dry. It’s cheap as chips, and the confidence boost you’ll get is worth every penny.

Go for a pin up.

If you really don’t have time to book into a salon, make sure you have a good supply of bobby pins, scarves and headbands for those little emergencies. Braids, plaits and messy buns are great for long locks, and scarves can be twisted and pinned for short-haired sirens.

If your hair needs a bit of TLC, book in at our northampton based hair salon and we’ll sort the rest. Feeling really brave? Why not show us your bad hair day on our Facebook wall and how you’ve managed to fix it?
