Northampton Hairdressing | Our vision
Helen opened the doors of the first Barbarella Northampton hairdressers salon in 2011 with the aim of bringing affordable luxury to Northampton. Having worked in the local hairdressing market for the past 17 years, Helen could see that many local salon’s were moving in the direction of super-cool over friendliness and price over service. This created an opportunity for Barbarella to arrive on the local scene and provide high-end services but with friendly, old-school, values. Since then, with the growing teams contribution the business has won multiple hairdressing and business awards and opened a larger flagship salon at 72 St Giles Street. Then COVID struck whic challenged our operting model and our clients were demanding a more personal and discrete service not best served in the larger salon which led to the building of a purpose built salon on the edge of town centre, located on Harlestone Road.

Our Story
The beginning
Barbarella Hair arrived on the Northampton hairdressing scene in 2011 when we opened our first salon at 79 St Giles. We chose this street as at matched our aspiration to create a boutique, friendly environment, much like the rest of the businesses on the street. And we were right, the street won High Street of the year in 2015! Since opening, our client list grew rapidly due to excellent feedback and our unique environment so we needed more seats and mirrors for our clients to sit at so we found the ideal larger location, right opposite, at number 72 St Giles Street – you can’t miss us.

Our team of exceptional stylists are led by owner, Helen Barber. Expect classic hairstyles with a real contemporary twist. The salon is a buzz with chatter and friendliness and bean-to-cup coffee on tap, direct from our neighbours, Blenders, of course!

We are not the cheapest in town, we are not the most expensive. We do, however, think we have the best all round feedback from our clients
